At the New York New Jersey Joint Board, one of the ways we fight for positive change in our communities is by supporting elected officials who demonstrate a committment to the issues that are most important to us: the right to organize unions without harassment or intimdation, economic dignity (including a living wage, affordable healthcare and retirement), safe and available housing and transportation, quality education, just immigration policy, and equal opportunity for all people, regardless of race, ethnicity, sexual orientation or country of origin.
When we find candidates who support these values (or who unfortunately oppose them), we take to the phones and to the streets, encouraging fellow union members to participate in the political process.
